Patriots Waive Former Second-Round CB Cyrus Jones

Jeff Howe reports that the Patriots are waiving former second-round CB Cyrus Jones on Saturday as they cut their roster down to 53 players.

Other reported roster cuts for the Patriots include:

  12. DL Vincent Valentine
  13. WR K.J. Maye
  14. CB Cyrus Jones

Jones, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2016. He was entering the third year of his four-year, $4 million contract that included a $1.1 million signing bonus and was set to make a base salary of $814,246 this season.

He landed on the season-ending injured reserve last year after sustaining torn ACL and meniscus injuries.

In 2016, Jones appeared in 10 games and recorded seven tackles, no interceptions or pass defenses, 180 kick return yards and 46 punt return yards.
