Patriots Work Out Former Bills WR David Nelson

Aaron Wilson reports that the New England Patriots worked out a group of wide receivers and defensive backs on Friday. Among the receivers was former Bills WR David Nelson.

Nelson, 26, signed with the Browns during the offseason, but was unable to secure a roster spot. He suffered a torn ACL last season, so that probably had an impact on his overall performance.

New England will be without WR Matt Slater indefinitely due to a wrist injury and Danny Amendola is still working himself back from a groin injury he suffered in Week 1.

The Patriots also brought in DBs Jalil Brown, Myron Lewis, DeQuan Menzie, Peyton Thompson and WRs Jared Green, Sam McGuffie Terrence Toliver.
