The New England Patriots announced that WRย Julian Edelmanย will miss the entire 2017 season after sustaining a torn ACL and will place him on the season-ending injured reserve.

Albert Breer reports that MRI tests confirmed that Patriots WRย Julian Edelmanย suffered a “complete” ACL tear in his right knee.
Adam Schefter reports that theย Patriots suspect WR Julian Edelman suffered a torn ACL during Friday’s preseason game against the Lions. Edelman is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the injury.
If tests confirm that Edelman does, in fact, have a torn ACL, it would cost him the entire 2017 season and lead to the team placing him on season-ending injured reserve.

Edelman, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the Patriots back in 2009. He was in the final year of his four-year, $17 million contract when the Patriots signed him to a two-yearย extension worth $11 million and includes $9 million guaranteed.
In 2016, Edelman appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and caught 98 passes for 1,106 yards receiving and three touchdowns. He also added 57 rushing yards, 44 kick return yards and 135 punt return yards for New England.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
