An earlier interview of Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie provided some insight on their plan for Terrelle Pryor.ย McKenzie mentioned that he’s a “viable” option for the teamsย #2 quarterback spot.
“Absolutely,” McKenzie said in regards to Pryor backing up Carson Palmer, perย Paul Gutierrez.ย ย “Yep. Hopefully, our quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, the staff, can work him starting (in) next weekโs voluntary minicamp. And see if we can get him rolling. Itโs going to be a constant evaluation. But they need to find out how good he is and how good he can be.”
Interestingly enough, Gutierrez writes that if Pryor is unable to secure the job a veteran like QB Matt Leinart could be signed before the start of the season to provide some insurance for the team.
The Raiders would be smart to see what they have him Pryor as soon as possible, so they can move him elsewhere, should things not workout at quarterback.
