Rams Cut DT Doug Worthington & QB Kain Colter, Sign Four

The Los Angeles Rams officially released DT Doug Worthington and placed QB Kain Colter and LB Zach Hodges on waivers Tuesday.

  • The Rams also signed TE Benson Browne, RB Terrence Magee, DT Cam Thomas and QB Dylan Thompson.

Worthington, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Steelers back in 2010. He spent just a few months in Pittsburgh before he was waived at the start of the season.

Since then, Worthington has played for a number of teams including the Buccaneers, Redskins, and Chargers before eventually signing a future/reserve contract with the Rams in December of 2014.

In 2015, Worthington appeared in two games for the Rams and recorded a fumble recovery.

Colter, 23, originally signed on wih the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern back in May of 2014. He lasted just a few months in Minnesota before he was waived coming out of the preseason.

The Vikings did, however, sign him to their practice squad and later brought him back on a future/reserve contract at the end of the year. However, he was waived shortly after last year’s NFL draft.

The Rams elected to sign him to a contract in February, but it was unlikely he was going to secure a roster spot with how deep L.A. is at quarterback.

Colter has yet to appear in an NFL game.
