Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert mentioned that there’s a good chance that both RB Rashard Mendenhall and DT Casey Hampton will begin the season on the PUP list.
“My guess is theyโll open the season on PUP,” Colbert said, via theย Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Youโve got to remember both of those injuries happened late in the year.”
Mendenhall wound up suffering a torn ACL back in Week 17 of last season, so the general consensus has been that he’ll most likely miss the first-six games of the year.
Hampton is also dealing with an ACL injury and the fact that he’ll be 35 at the start of the season leaves some questions regarding how effective he’ll be moving forward. For what it’s worth, he expects to be back in time for the start of the season.
