Ravens A Team To Watch For WR Eric Decker?

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports mentions that while there has been some buzz about the Ravens being a landing spot for free agent WR Jeremy Maclin, they’re also worth keeping an eye on for Jets WR Eric Decker.

A report just surfaced that the Jets plan to either trade or release Decker in the coming days and Baltimore could use some help at the position.

It’s typically more likely in these cases that a player will be released, but there’s at least a chance a team could step up and offer the Jets a late-round pick for him if he has a decent market. Complicating matters for the Jets is the simple fact that Decker’s owed a good amount of money, so they would likely require him to agree to a pay cut as part of any trade.

Decker, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. He spent four years in Denver before signing a five-year, $36.25 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Jets as a free agent back in 2014.

Decker stands to make base salaries of $7.25 million and $7.5 million over the remaining two years of the agreement.

According toย OverTheCap.com,ย releasing or trading Decker would free up $5.75 million of available cap space while creating $3 million in dead money.

In 2016, Decker was limited to appearing in just three games and catching nine passes for 194 yards receiving and two touchdowns before he was placed on season-ending injured reserve with both hip and shoulder injuries.

Weโ€™ll have more regarding Deckerโ€™s future with the Jets as the news is available.
