Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin reports that RB Ryan Grant “is now considering an offer from the Packers’ NFC North Division rival Detroit Lions,” this is according to Grant’s agentย Alan Herman.
Some felt that the Lions would address the running back position during the draft, but the wasn’t the case.ย Mikel Leshoure and Jahvid Best figure to be the team’s top-two running backs next season, but it would make sense for them to add some extra help considering the issues surroundingย Leshoure andย Best.
Despite the interest from other teams, Grant emphasized that he still wants to be Packer.
“I would love to come back. I think everyone knows that thatโs my ideal situation.” Grant said. โI think that Green Bay is a phenomenal organization, the guys on the team and what weโve built there in the last five years is something special.”
Grant recently visited with the New England Patriots who are believed to haveย extendedย him an offer as well. ย The Oakland Raiders have also come up as aย speculativeย option, but Packers have said that they would consider re-signing Grant at some point.
RB James Starks already has a fairly concerning history of injuries and RB Alex Greenย tore his ACL in his first season with the team.ย It might be in the Packers best interest to re-sign Grant now if that’s something that they’reย trulyย considering.
