According to Mike Garafolo, Redskins G Ereck Flowers is expected to test the open market despite the team’s efforts to retain him.
Garafolo adds Flowers could flirt with $10 million per year on the open market.
Flowers was a notable bust as a left tackle after being taken in the top-ten by the Giants in 2015. However, he finally blossomed after making the fulltime switch to guard for Washington last season.
Flowers, 25, is a former No. 9 overall pick out of Miami by the Giants in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was the final year of a four-year $14.391 million rookie contract that was fully guaranteed and set to earn a base salary of $2,397,522 for 2018 when the Giants waived him.
The Jaguars later signed Flowers to a contract and he finished out the year in Jacksonville. He signed on with the Redskins one a one-year, $4 million deal for the 2019 season.
In 2019, Flowers started all 16 games for the Redskins and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 30 offensive guard out of 80 qualifying players.
We’ll have more on Flowers as the news is available.
