Redskins Officially Sign QB Josh Johnson, Place CB Quinton Dunbar & WR Trey Quinn On IR

The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday that they’ve officially signed QB Josh Johnson, C Demetrius Rhaney, G Zac Kerin and DE Marcus Smith to contracts.

The Redskins also placed CB Quinton Dunbar, WR Trey Quinn and G Jonathan Cooper on injured reserve.

Johnson, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. Since then, Johnson has played for a number of teams including the 49ers, Browns, Bengals, Chargers, Jets, Colts, Bills, Ravens and Giants before catching on with Texans last season and finishing out the year in Houston.

The Raiders signed Johnson to a contract this past March only to cut him loose a few weeks after this year’s draft.

Johnson was just recently selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football.

Johnson hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season while playing for the Bengals.

Dunbar, 26, originally signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and was later added to the Redskins’ practice squad before he was promoted a few weeks later.

The Redskins re-signed Dunbar to a three-year, $10.5 million contract that includes $5.25 million guaranteed this past January. He stands to make base salaries of $3 million and $3.25 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Dunbar appeared in seven games for the Redskins and recorded 39 tackles, two interceptions and nine pass defenses.
