Redskins Place TEs Niles Paul & Logan Paulsen On I.R., Sign TE Ernst Brun

The Washington Redskins announced that they’ve placed tight ends Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen on season-ending injured reserve Sunday.

  • The Redskins also signed TE Ernst Brun to a contract and waived/injured RB Silas Redd.

Both Paul and Paulsen suffered season-ending injuries in recent weeks, so the Redskins had to add another tight end.

HC Jay Gruden said of Brun: “He had a good workout today … We’re going to give him a shot.”

Paul, 26, signed a three-year, $6 million contract with the Redskins back in March and stands to make a base salary of $1.25 million for the 2015 season.

Last year, Paul appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins and caught 39 passes for 507 yards receiving and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 59 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.

Paulsen, 28, is in the final year of his three-year, $4 million contract that included a $1.1 million signing bonus. He stands to make a base salary of $1.1 million in 2015 before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2014, Paulsen appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins and caught 13 passes for 78 yards receiving and a touchdown.
