Jason La Canfora reports that the Redskins are releasing DL Stacy McGee on Wednesday.
Mike Garafolo hears the Redskins were trying to trade McGee in recent days, but it appears as though there were no takers.
McGee, 29, is a former sixth-round pick by the Raiders in the 2013 NFL Draft. He finished his four-year, $2,238,680 rookie contract with Oakland before signing a five-year, $25 million contract with the Redskins in 2017.
McGee was set to make a base salary of $3.75 million for the 2019 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing McGee will free up $2,275,000 of available cap space while creating $2.4 million in dead money.
In 2018, McGee appeared in eight games for the Redskins and recorded nine tackles and a sack.
