Report: 49ers G Alex Boone Open To Being Traded & Signing Extension With A New Team

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that 49ers veteran G Alex Boone is open to being traded andย signing a long-term contract with another team.

Boone has once again decided to sit out ofย the 49ers’ voluntary activities and the two parties have not discussed a contract extension in recent months.

However, if he’s still with the 49ers by the timeย training camp opens, Maiocco mentions that Booneย plans to report on time.

Boone, 27, isย in the final year of hisย five-year, $7.450 million contractย that includedย $2.24 million guaranteedย and stands to make a base salary ofย $3.4 million for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Boone wouldย free upย $3,400,000 in available cap space while creating $340,000 in dead money.

In 2014,ย Boone appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and was rated byย Pro Football Focus as the No. 17 guardย out of 78 qualifying players.
