Report: Bears Sign MLB D.J. Williams To One-Year Deal

ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports that the Bears have reached a one-year deal with free agent MLB D.J. Williams.

Williams started six games for the Bears last year before missing the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.

The Bears are likely looking to Williams to provide a bridge year to some of the team’s younger linebackers. ย The Bears drafted LB Jon Bostic out of Florida in the second round last year. ย Bostic flashed ability, but struggled to shed blocks which contributed to Chicago’s embarrassing run defense in 2013.

Williams, an 11-year veteran, recorded 39 tackles, and 3.5 sacks in six games last year.
