Report: Bears Sign MLB D.J. Williams To One-Year Deal

ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports that the Bears have reached a one-year deal with free agent MLB D.J. Williams.

Williams started six games for the Bears last year before missing the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.

The Bears are likely looking to Williams to provide a bridge year to some of the team’s younger linebackers.  The Bears drafted LB Jon Bostic out of Florida in the second round last year.  Bostic flashed ability, but struggled to shed blocks which contributed to Chicago’s embarrassing run defense in 2013.

Williams, an 11-year veteran, recorded 39 tackles, and 3.5 sacks in six games last year.
