Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports that the Giants have agreed to sign former Raiders TE Brandon Myers.
Myers, 27, actually visited with the Giants earlier in the day, so apparently things went quite well. New York recently lost Martellus Bennett to the Chicago Bears, so they were clearly in need of help at the tight end position.
Myers is coming off of a surprisingly productive season for the Raiders. While he’s proven to be effective in the passing game, he offers very little in terms of blocking. In fact, he was so bad at run-blocking that this alone dropped his Pro Football Focus rating to the point where he was listed as their second-worst qualifying tight end.
We had Myers listed as our No. 25 best available player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
