Update:
Rich Cimini of ESPN reports that the Jets are expected to finalize an agreement withย Texansย college scouting directorย Mike Maccagnanย to beย their next general manager as soon as today.
Maccagnan met with the Jets on Friday for aย second interview and has remained inย New Jersey since to work on plans with team officials.
Sources tell Cimini that the Jets want Seahawks DC Dan Quinn “badly,” and were prepared to fly to Seattle if they lost their divisional playoff game to the Panthers.
However, Quinn has a ton of interest from other teams, so there could beย competition for his services.
It’s worth mentioning that Cardinals DC Todd Bowles is also a candidate for the job.
Cimini adds that the Jets would like to have a new general manager in place this week.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Jets are expected to hire Texansย college scouting directorย Mike Maccagnan as their next general manager.
- Rapoport adds thatย Maccagnan has been in town meeting with the Jets for the past three days.
This fits with recent reports that have saidย Maccagnan isย considered the favorite to get the job after he impressed consultantsย Ron Wolfย and Charlie Casserly during his interviews.
Brian Costelloย spoke to aย league source who mentionedย thatย Maccagnan is a “very thorough, competent person who will be able to work well with a head coach and others in the organization.”
Maccagnan is the only candidate who has scheduled a second interview with the team,
It’s worth mentioning thatย Maccagnan has ties to a few of the team’s head-coaching candidates such asย Doug Marrone andย Gary Kubiak.
Other candidates for the positionedย GM position include:ย Seahawks pro personnel director Trent Kirchner,ย Eagles pro personnel director Rick Meuller,ย Jets senior director of football administration Rod Graves,ย Browns executive chief of staff Bill Kuharich,ย andย Buccaneers executive Jon Robinson.
