Mike Florio ofย Pro Football Talkย reports that a Chargers source has informed that OLBย Larry Englishย did not reach the required playing-time percentage to void the final year of his rookie contract.
Many expected thatย English would be an unrestricted free agent this March, but according to Florio’s source, he will instead be under contract for the 2014 at a base salary of $1.54 million.
Of course, there remains a chance that San Diego could elect to part ways with the former first-round pick given that he has never lived up to expectations over the course of his five years with the team and the team could use the additional cap space.
English, 28, finished the 2013 season with 18 tackles and 2.5 sacks even after Melvin Ingram missed most of the season due to a torn ACL.
