Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports thatย the NFL could intervene in the situation involving Panthers DE Greg Hardy.
According to Florio, the league could suspend Hardy without pay for violating the personal-conduct policy.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network confirms that the NFL is discussing the situation and adds that theyย could either imposeย discipline or offer guidance in the situation.
This comes just a day after Panthers HC Ron Rivera announced that Hardy is back with the team and they expect to evaluate hisย situation this week.
Rivera eluded to the team being in a tough position regarding whether to play Hardy on Monday.
โIf you play him and you win, you donโt have a conscience,โ Rivera said. โYou play him and you lose itโs a distraction.โ
However, the NFL getting involved in this situation wouldย alleviate some of the pressure the team is facing for their decision to allow Hardy to continue playing, despite beingย charged for domestic violence. It’s worth mentioning that Hardy is currently appearing the ruling.
