Report: Rob Gronkowski Will Need A Fourth Surgery On His Forearm

Karen Guregian of theย Boston Heraldย reports that Patriots TEย Rob Gronkowski will in fact need aย fourth surgery to change a plate that wasย insertedย after he suffered a brokenย forearm.

It was reported over the weekend thatย Gronkowski’s situation was in a holding pattern as they were hoping thatย antibiotic treatment would finally eliminate the infection in his left forearm.

Guregian’s source mentioned that the surgery has to happen. The plate inย Gronkowski’s forearm needs to be replaced and doctors would like to get the surrounding tissue tested as well.

There’s a chance thatย Gronkowski may need a fifth surgery depending on whether or not the infection has been flushed out. If he needed another surgery after this, his 2013 season would obviously be in jeopardy.ย Doctorsย are reportedly hopeful that it won’t come to this and he’ll be able to begin hisย 11-week recovery period.
