Vikings WR Stefon Diggs missed practice on Wednesday for non-injury reasons, which led to more speculation that a trade could be coming.
However, Tom Curran of NBC Boston, citing a league source with knowledge of the situation, reports that the Vikings have no plans to trade Diggs.
Josina Anderson spoke to a team who would “definitely be interested” in trading for Diggs who said they have been informed Minnesota will not be trading him.
The Vikings move to a run-heavy offense has directly impacted Diggs’ role and opportunities this season. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk recently mentioned that Diggs has become a luxury the Vikings can’t afford.
Even so, Diggs is still affordable by recent market value prices and trading him away now would still result in a $9 million dead money cap hit in 2020.
Diggs, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2015. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when he agreed to a five-year extension worth $72 million with the Vikings last year.
Diggs stands to make base salaries of $8.9 million and $10.9 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2019, Diggs has appeared in four games for the Vikings and caught 13 passes for 209 yards receiving and one touchdown.
We’ll have more regarding Diggs as the news is available.
