Tom Pelissero reports that the Minnesota Vikings have released CB Antoine Winfield.
Pelissero adds that sources have informed him that the Vikings asked Winfield to take a pay cut, , but he apparently refused.
“Winfield is a valuable contributor, an excellent leader, said a Vikings coach,” per Ian Rapoport. “Someone will be lucky to have him.”
Winfield, 35, had a $7.25 million base salary coming his way next season. He tallied 101 tackles, 12 passes defensed, and 3 interceptions last season.
It will be interesting to see how much interest there is in him given that he has still played very well in recent years.
