Saints Expected To Sign RB Boston Scott To Practice Squad

Update:

Nick Underhill reports that the Saints are expected to sign RB Boston Scott to their practice squad now that he’s cleared waivers.

The Saints will need to make a corresponding roster, as they’re currently at the limit:

  1. QB J.T. Barrett
  2. LB Vince Biegel
  3. TE Garrett Griffin
  4. DT Woodrow Hamilton
  5. DE Alex Jenkins (International)
  6. WR Keith Kirkwood
  7. OT Rick Leonard
  8. RB Dwayne Washington
  9. RB Jonathan Williams
  10. OL Nate Wozniak
  11. TE Deon Yelder
  12. RB Boston Scott

Herbie Teope reports that rookie RB Boston Scott officially passed through waivers unclaimed on Thursday, making him a free agent.

However, Teope wouldn’t be surprised if Scott signed on to the Saints’ practice squad at some point in the near future.

Scott, 23, was selected in the sixth round of this year’s NFL draft by the Saints. He signed a three-year, $1.71 million contract with New Orleans and was set to make a base salary of $485,000 for the 2018 season when the Saints waived him on Wednesday.

During his college career at Louisiana Tech, Scott rushed for 1,840 yards on 288 carries (6.4 YPC) to go along with 32 receptions for 307 yards receiving and 15 total touchdowns over the course of 38 games. He also contributed 633 kick return yards on 29 attempts (21.8 YPA).
