Ryan Mallett Could Miss โ€œSeveral Gamesโ€ With Pectoral Injury

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Texans QB Ryan Mallett suffered a right pectoral muscle injury and could miss โ€œseveral weeks.โ€

  • McClain adds that Mallett will undergo an MRI Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

As of now, the Texans are expected to start Ryan Fitzpatrick for Week 12โ€™s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Mallett completed 21-of-45 throws for 189 yards and an interception during Sundayโ€™s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mallett, 26, came over from New England in a trade that sent a conditional seventh-round pick to the Patriots in return for him. He is in the final year of his four-year, $2,947,828 rookie and will make a base salary of $776,976 for the 2014 season before testing the open market next year.

Thereโ€™s no question that Mallett has a lot riding on his opportunity this season, so missing any amount of time would be a major disappointment for him.

Weโ€™ll have more updates as the news is available.
