Ryan Mallett Could Miss “Several Games” With Pectoral Injury

John McClain of the Houston Chronicleย reports that Texans QB Ryan Mallett suffered aย right pectoral muscle injury and could miss “several weeks.

  • McClain adds that Mallett will undergoย an MRI Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

As of now, the Texans are expected to start Ryan Fitzpatrickย for Week 12’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Mallett completed 21-of-45 throws for 189 yards and an interception during Sunday’s loss to theย Cincinnati Bengals.

Mallett, 26,ย came over from New England in a trade that sentย a conditional seventh-round pickย to the Patriots in return for him.ย Heย is in the final year of hisย four-year, $2,947,828 rookie and will makeย a base salary ofย $776,976 for the 2014 season before testing the open market next year.

There’s no question thatย Mallett has a lot riding on his opportunity this season, so missing any amount of time would be a major disappointment for him.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
