Saints Placing WR Michael Thomas On Injured Reserve

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Saints are placing WR Michael Thomas on injured reserve with an ankle injury that he’s dealt with since the start of the season.

Schefter says that Thomas will miss the remainder of the regular season, but the team expects him to be close to 100 percent for the start of the postseason.

It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list in just three weeks.

Thomas, 27, was drafted by the Saints in the second round out of Ohio State in 2016. He was entering the final year of a four-year, $5.118 million rookie contract when he agreed to a five-year, $100 million extension last July.

In 2020, Thomas has appeared in seven games for the Saints and caught 40 passes for 438 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
