According to Josh Katzenstein, the Saints are releasing rookieย QB J.T. Barrett from their practice squad on Friday.
This is likely to make room for RB Boston Scott, who is expected to be re-signed to the unit today.
The Saints’ practice squad now consists of:
- LB Vince Biegel
- TE Garrett Griffin
- DT Woodrow Hamilton
- DE Alex Jenkins (International)
- WR Keith Kirkwood
- OT Rick Leonard
- RB Dwayne Washington
- RB Jonathan Williams
- OL Nate Wozniak
- TE Deon Yelder
Barrett, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Ohio State back in May before signing a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Saints. New Orleans elected to waive Barrett as they cut their roster down to 53 players coming out of the preseason and theyย later added him to their practice squad.
During his four years at OSU, Barrett threw for 9,434 yards while completing 63.5 percent of his passes to go along with 104 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He also rushed for 3,263 yards and 43 touchdowns.
