Saints Releasing S Kurt Coleman

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Saints are releasing veteran S Kurt Coleman on Thursday.

However, New Orleans will reportedly keep the door open to possibly re-signing Coleman later on.

Coleman, 30, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2010. He spent four years with the Eagles before joining the Chiefs for the 2014 season.

The Panthers later signed Coleman to a four-year, $18.2 million contract before releasing him last year. From there, he joined the Saints on a three-year contract worth up to $18 million.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Coleman will free up $4million of available cap space while creating $3 million in dead money.

In 2018, Coleman appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and recorded 31 tackles, no interceptions, and a forced fumble.
