Carter, 25, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State back in May. He signed a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Redskins, but was waived with an injury designation during the preseason and later reverted to their injured reserve list.
Washington would later waive Carter with an injury settlement back in August. Carter was on and off of the Saints’ practice squad over the final two months of the season.
During his four-year college career at Grambling State, Carter rushed for 2,628 yards on 396 carries (6.6 YPC) to go along with 74 receptions for 961 yards receiving and 38 total touchdowns over the course of 48 games.
