The New Orleans Saints officially signed SÂ Rickey Jefferson to a futures contract on Monday for the 2018 season.
As of now, the Saints have signed five players to futures deals including:
- DB Bradley Sylve
- G Andrew Tiller
- WRÂ Paul Turner
- LB Sae Tautu
- SÂ Rickey Jefferson
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Jefferson, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Raiders cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
During his four-year college career at LSU, Jefferson recorded 88 tackles, one sack, four interceptions, and eight pass defenses over the course of 30 games.
