Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Saints have signed WR Rashad Lawrence to a future/reserve contract on Tuesday.

Lawrence becomes the 12th player to sign a futures deal with the Saints since their season ended. The full list includes:

  1. TE Garrett Griffin (NFLTR)
  2. G John Fullington
  3. QB Garrett Grayson
  4. DT Ashaad Mabry
  5. TE Jake Stoneburner

  7. DT Justin Zimmer
  8. DE Royce LaFrance
  9. DB Forrest Hightower
  10. DB Anthony Gaitor
  11. LB Adam Bighil
  12. WR Rashad Lawrence

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Lawrence, 23, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern back in May of last year. He was waived at the start of the season and later signed a future/reserve contract with the Bears.

Chicago elected to release him coming out of the preseason, but he managed to catch on with the Jaguars at the start of the regular season.

Lawrence has yet to appear in an NFL game.
