According to Tom Pelissero, Saints TE Cole Wick and Titans undrafted rookie OL Anthony McKinney have decided to opt out of the 2020 season.
Eric Edholm reports Wick has an asthma condition which prompted him to opt out.
While Wick is eligible for the NFL’s salary advance for opt-outs, McKinney is only entitled to whatever his signing bonus was after signing with Tennessee.
Wick, 25, originally signed on with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Incarnate Word back in 2016. He lasted just over a year in Detroit before he signed on to the 49ers’ practice squad. He returned to San Francisco on a futures contract in 2018.
The 49ers waived Wick in October and eventually lost him off the practice squad to the Titans. Tennessee waived Wick coming out of the 2019 preseason.
After a brief stint on the Raiders’ practice squad, Wick signed to the Saints’ practice squad near the end of the year. He was re-signed to a futures deal for the 2020 season.
In 2018, Wick was active for five games, but did not record a statistic.
