The New Orleans Saints announced Friday that they’ve placed DE/TE Mitchell Loewen on waivers to make room for RB Ty Montgomery.
Loewen had played defensive end before moving to tight end last season.
Loewen, 27, signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2016. He has missed extensive time due to injury and been limited to appearing in just three games over his first three years in the NFL.
The Saints elected to cut Loewen loose in 2018 and he was later claimed by the Lions. The Lions re-signed Loewen for the 2019 season but elected to release him during final roster cuts.
Loewen rejoined the Saints last year and was on and off of their practice squad.
In 2019, Loewen appeared in one game for the Saints and recorded two tackles.
