Saints Sign Veteran FB Zach Line

Update:

The Saints have signed veteran FB Zach Line to a contract on Wednesday, according to his agent.

According to Josh Katzenstein, the Saints brought in free agent FB Zach Line for a workout on Wednesday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported a few months ago that Line had been cleared to do everything following hip surgery and was hoping to catch on with a team for training camp.

The Jets previously brought Line in for a visit back in March, but declined to sign him to a contract.

Line, 27, signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of SMU back in 2013. He was on and off of their practice squad a bit, but managed to make the 53-man roster in 2015 and returned to the Vikings last year on a one-year, restricted tender worth $1,671,000.

Line is now testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Line appeared in 15 games for the Vikings and rushed for 15 yards on seven carries (2.1 YPC) and no receptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 fullback out of 17 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
