Seahawks Claimed DT A.J. Francis Off Waivers From Dolphins, Promote WR Kevin Smith

The Seattle Seahawks claimed DT A.J. Francis off of waivers from the Dolphins on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions release.

  • Seattle also promoted WR Kevin Smith to their active roster.

Francis, 25, signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland back in 2013. He was unable to make the 53-man roster during his rookie and was waived at the start of the season.

The Patriots later claimed him off of waivers, but Francis elected to return to the Dolphins later on in 2013 before signing one-year, $510,000 contract with Miami back in March.

The Dolphins cut him loose on Monday.

This season, Francis has appeared in one game and recorded a single tackle for the Dolphins.
