Seahawks DC Dan Quinn Could Hire Kyle Shanahan As OC If He Gets HC Job

A source tells Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report that Seahawks DC Dan Quinn will try to hire Kyle Shanahan away from the Browns if he lands a head-coaching job in the coming weeks.

  • Cole mentions that there is a โ€œstrong chanceโ€ Quinn could be hired by the New York Jets.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Tuesday that Shanahan would consider making a lateral move such as an offensive coordinator position with another team.

Shanahanโ€™s willingness to consider other opportunities reportedly stems from friction between the Brownsโ€™ coaching staff and their front office.

Sources tell Cabot that the biggest issue within the Browns is that the coaching staff and front office arenโ€™t seeing eye to eye on some key issues. On top of that, a high-ranking personnel member reportedly texted down to the sidelines about the teamโ€™s play calls, which caused a stir with the coaching staff.

There was talk earlier in the week that Kyle could join his father, Mike, as a package deal, but recent reports have said that Kyle would prefer to go out on his own, rather than re-join his fatherโ€™s coaching if an opportunity were to be available to him.

Quinn has been linked to every available head-coaching job in the NFL, so the Bears, 49ers, Bills, Jets, Falcons and Raiders could all be in play for him.

Weโ€™ll have more updates regarding Quinn and Shanahan as the news is available.
