Seahawks Expected To Sign OL Alex Boone To Practice Squad

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that veteran OL Alex Boone is traveling to Seattle to begin COVID-19 testing with the expectation that he’ll sign on to the Seahawks’ practice squad once cleared.

Boone opted to retire from the NFL a few years ago before announcing that he was open to returning to the league this past summer.

He recently visited with the Ravens, but left without a deal in place.

Boone, 33, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State back in 2009. After seven years in San Francisco, Boone signed a four-year, $26.8 million contract that includes $10 million guaranteed with the Vikings as a free agent.

Boone was set to make base salaries of $6.6. million over the remainder of the contract when the Vikings cut him loose as they cut their roster down to 53 players in 2017. From there, he signed on with the Cardinals before retiring.

For his career, Boone has appeared in 105 over the course of eight seasons, making 86 starts.
