Seahawks Looking To Add A Similar QB To Russell Wilson, Prepared To Shop Matt Flynn

Seahawks GM John Schneider mentioned that they will listen to offers for QB Matt Flynn.

โ€œWe are open to anything,โ€ said Schneider, per Adam Schein. โ€œBlessed to have Matt. Iโ€™d be lying if I told you we wouldnโ€™t listen to people.โ€

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll mentioned that they discussed the possibility of adding a quarterback with a similar skill set to that of Russell Wilson, which is obviously the exact opposite of Matt Flynn.

โ€œWeโ€™ve talked a lot about that,โ€ Carroll said, via the Tacoma News Tribune.. โ€œIt would be nice to have another guy that might be able to be a factor that way. Thereโ€™s some really good kids out there. Weโ€™ll see.โ€

Carroll wouldnโ€™t go as far to say that Flynn will be shopped around during the offseason, but itโ€™s hard to image that they would want to pay a backup $5.25 million next season.

Flynn signed a three year deal worth $19.5 million last year and there are not a lot of options at quarterback on the open market, so itโ€™s conceivable that Seattle could find some interest in Flynn.

Carroll also mentioned that they would like to add another pass rusher during the offseason and added that theyโ€™ll reevaluate DT Jason Jones, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

  1. I would first try to move Flynn, then offer him a chance to be the back up with a reworked contract, 3rd and final option, release him. You got the qb, you need a great back up. Getting Trevor Pryor from the Raiders. trade a 3rd round pick. or swap matt flynn.
