Seahawks Waive QB Phillip Sims

The Seattle Seahawks officially waived quarterback Phillip Sims on Thursday.

Seattle also signed a few players to a contracts today including TE Brandon Williams and DE Tavaris Barnes.

Sims, 23, originally signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Winston-Salem back in May of last year. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and was cut loose ast the start of the regular season.

The Seahawks elected to sign him to a future/reserve contract back in January, but it appears as though they prefer to have the open roster spot for now.

During the preseason last year, Sims appeared in four games and threw for 261 yards while completing 54.9 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
