According to WTAE in Pittsburgh, Steelers OLB Anthony Chickillo was arrested and charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment this weekend.
The incident reportedly involves Chickillo’s girlfriend.
Police took Chickillo into custody and he was arraigned this morning with bail being set at $10,000. Chickillo has a Preliminary Hearing scheduled for October 30.
The Steelers issued the following statement regarding the news:
“We are aware of an incident involving Anthony Chickillo last night and are still gathering information. Until we have further details we will not provide any further comments.”
Chickillo, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the team’s practice squad.
From there, testing was promoted to the Steelers’ active roster a few weeks into the 2015 season and has been on their active roster ever since.
Chickillo signed a two-year, $8 million extension with the Steelers this past March.
In 2019, Chickillo has appeared in three games and recorded one tackle and a half sack.
