Steelers Pick Up OLB Bud Dupree’s Fifth-Year Option

According to Ian Rapoport, the Steelers have exercised OLB Bud Dupree‘s fifth-year option for the 2019 season on Monday.

This move will cost the Steelers $9,232,000 for the 2019 season. It’s worth mentioning that the fifth-year option is only guaranteed for injury and won’t prevent the two parties from working on a long-term extension in the next year or so.

Dupree, 25, is a former first-round pick out of Buffalo by the Steelers in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of a four-year, $9.22 million rookie contract that included $8.632 million guaranteed and is set to earn a base salary of $1,692,585 million for 2018.

In 2017, Dupree appeared in 15 games for the Steelers and recorded 40 total tackles, six sacks, one fumble recovery and one pass defense. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 98 overall edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.
