Mark Kaboly of DKPittsburghSports reports that Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams underwent knee surgery on Tuesday and will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time.
- Ian Rapoport confirms the report and adds that Williams’ procedure could keep him out 2-3 weeks.
Williams, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Steelers back in 2006. After nine years in Carolina, Williams signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Steelers back in March of last year.
Williams stands to make a base salary of $2 million for the 2016 season before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next year.
In 2016, Williams has appeared in seven games for the Steelers and rushed for 276 yards on 75 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 15 receptions for 91 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
