Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that Steelers slot CB Mike Hilton is signing his exclusive rights free agent tender on Thursday.
Hilton had been hoping to get a long-term extension in place this summer, but it looks like he’ll sign his tender and report for the start of training camp.
Hilton, 25, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi back in 2016. He was waived after a few months in Jacksonville and later signed on to the Patriots’ practice squad.
The Steelers signed Hilton and brought him back on a futures deal last year.
Hilton will be a restricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Hilton appeared in 15 games for the Steelers and recorded 57 tackles, one sack, an interception, two fumble recoveries and eight pass defenses.
