Steelers Restructure C Maurkice Pouncey’s Contract, Save $3.8 Million This Year

According to the NFLPA, the Steelers restructured the contract of C Maurkice Pouncey, via Mark Kaboly.

  • Kaboly notes that the deal will save the team $3.8 million in cap space this year, leaving them approximately $7.5 million under the cap.

This is a move that has been rumored for a while.  Pittsburgh has been active restructuring deals, as their cap situation has not been healthy.  S Mike Mitchell and OT Marcus Gilbert recently restructured their deals as well.

The Steelers gave Pouncey a five-year extension worth over $44 million last summer.

Pro Football Focus ranked Pouncey as the No.6 center in 2014.
