Steelers Sign WR Justin Thomas & LB Matt Galambos To Practice Squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially signed LB Matt Galambos and WR Justin Thomas to their practice squad on Tuesday and released OT Jake Rodgers from the unit.

The Steelers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. C Kyle Friend
  2. TE Jake McGee
  3. RB Fitzgerald Toussaint (Exception)
  4. WR Marcus Tucker
  5. S Jacob Hagen
  6. DE Lavon Hooks
  7. LB Farrington Huguenin
  8. CB Dashaun Phillips
  9. WR Justin Thomas
  10. LB Matt Galambos

Thomas, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech after playing quarterback during college. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Saints cut him loose in July.

Thomas had a brief stint with the Rams before signing on with the Steelers toward the end of the preseason. He’s been on and off of Pittsburgh’s practice squad this year.

During his four-year college career at Georgia Tech, Thomas threw for 4,748 yards while completing 48.7 percent of his passes to go along with 40 touchdowns and 18 interceptions over the course of 48 games. He also rushed for 2,409 yards and 22 touchdowns.
