Texans Sign 8 Players To Futures Deals Including RB Kenny Hilliard

The Houston Texans announced Monday that they’ve signed eight players to future/reserve contracts including RB Kenny Hilliard.

The Texans have now signed nine total players to futures deals since the season ended including:

  1. P Cory Carter (signed previously)
  2. TE RaShaun Allen
  3. DE Brandon Dunn
  4. OT Laurence Gibson
  5. RB Kenny Hilliard
  6. WR Tevin Jones
  7. OLB Eric Lee
  8. ILB Shakeel Rashad
  9. G Chad Slade

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Hilliard, 24, is a former seventh-round pick of the Texans back in May of last year. He was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad at the start of the season.

The Texans elected to bring Hilliard back on a future/reserve contract this past January. However, he was once again among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason but was later added to their practice squad.

Hillard has yet to appear in an NFL game.
