ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Texans have reached an agreement with fourth-round pick QB Tom Savage.
This is the fourth draft pick that the Texans have gotten under contract this week.
It was a little surprising to see the Texans wait until the fourth-round to address the quarterback position given that they currently have Ryan Fitzpatrick in place as their starting quarterback.
Reports surfaced during the draft that Houston could trade for Patriots backup QB Ryan Mallett given that Bill O’Brien is more than familiar with him, but that idea has gained little, to no traction in recent days.
Leading up to the draft, some believed he could have been taken as early as round two, but he and A.J. McCarron wound up going much later than expected.
Savage will be one of more interesting rookie to keep an eye on during the preseason.
