Titans LT Taylor Lewan Skipping Mandatory Minicamp

The Tennessee Titans announced Tuesday that LT Taylor Lewan is skipping mandatory minicamp.

A few weeks ago,ย Lewan said he had yet to discuss a potential contract extension with the Titans this offseason. However, he added that it wasn’t a major concern for him at this point in time.

โ€œI understand that this is a business, and so if something gets done here thatโ€™s great,โ€ Lewan said, via the Tennessean. โ€œBut if not, I understand and thatโ€™s how it is. Thatโ€™s how this game works, so whatever happens, happens.

โ€œIf something gets done and both parties are happy, then I think something will get done. If not, then itโ€™s a business. I canโ€™t sit here and say what the futureโ€™s going to be. But as of right now, Iโ€™m playing on my fifth-year option and Iโ€™m going to do my best to make sure that this team is as successful as possible this year, and hopefully continue for this offensive line to take steps forward and try to be the best left tackle I can be.โ€

Lewan, 26, was taken with the No. 11 overall pick by the Titans back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $11.485 million rookie contract when the Titans picked up his fifth-year option last May.

Lewan will make a base salary ofย $9.341 million for the 2018 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2017, Lewan appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 16 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
