ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that theย Browns trading former first-round CB Justin Gilbert to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- Ian Rapoport reports that the Browns receive a 2018 sixth-round pick from the Steelers for Gilbert.
Gilbert has been a huge disappointment since he was drafted No. 8 overall a few years ago. In fact, there was some talk that the Browns could move him to receiver at one point.
Gilbert, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $12.83 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $786,682 in 2016. The contract also includes a fifth-year option.
In 2015, Gilbert appeared in nine games for the Browns and recorded 10 tackles, no interceptions and one pass defense.
