TRADE: Steelers Trading RT Marcus Gilbert To Cardinals For 6th-Rd Pick

Update:

The Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday that they’ve officially traded for Steelers RT Marcus Gilbert.

Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers are trading RT Marcus Gilbert to the Cardinals for a late sixth-round pick on Friday.

Gilbert said goodbye to Pittsburgh earlier in the day via his Twitter account and reports later mentioned that the Steelers were shopping him in trade talks.

Gilbert, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Steelers back in 2011. He was entering the final year of his six-year, $30.815 million contract that included a $7.65 million signing bonus and is set to make a base salary of $4,865,103 for 2018.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Gilbert will free up $4,915,103 of available cap space while creating $1,728,500 in dead money.

In 2018, Gilbert appeared in five games for the Steelers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 41 overall offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
