Tua Tagovailoa Expected To Be Healthy & Throw For Teams By April

According to Mike Rodak of AL.com, Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa is expected to be healthy and able to throw for prospective teams by April.

Tagovailoa’s agent, Leigh Steinberg, tells Rodak that his client is expected to hold around a 40-minute session and make between 60-80 throws for NFL scouts.

“The [intention] there is the ball never touches the ground and I think he’s gonna blow away teams in that process,” Steinberg said.

Rodak mentions that if Tagovailoa is healthy, he could participate in Alabama’s pro day this March.

Steinberg says that doctors continue to be “quite sure” Tagovailoa will make a full recovery after undergoing hip surgery back in November.

“What Tua has going for him, incredibly, is first of all that athletes tend to have — if they play football — they have bodies that heal at amazing rates,” Steinberg said. “The recuperative power is not similar to an average person. They wouldn’t have made it this far in football if they were. The second thing is that he’s really young.

“You combine those two things, and we expect he will be healthy and working out by April.”

Tagovailoa, 21, is still expected to be a high first-round pick in this year’s draft, despite the serious hip injury.

For his career, Tagovailoa has completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 7,442 yards, 87 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over the course of three seasons and 32 games. He has also rushed for 340 yards and nine touchdowns.
